End of School, Beginning of Summer

The kids last day of school was Friday, June 6. It has been a very long year and both Brad and Ashley have worked hard at school. Ashley received her report card on the last day of school and received 3 A's and 2 B's; she is officially a 5th grader. She only missed a total of 11 days this year not bad for someone with a chronic illness. I try hard to schedule all of Ashley's tests, surgeries and doctors visits, etc. during school breaks which helps minimize her absences in school.

Brad did really well in school too. He made straight A's his entire 6th grade year. He was worried about his Algebra class because he did not feel good about his final exam, which had a total of 190 points. We have no idea what he made on his Algebra exam but it doesn't matter because he finished his 6th grade year with a 4.0 GPA.

As a mom, I am very proud of both kids, not just because they have good grades but because they maintained those grades with their very busy after-school schedule. Ashley taking 6 hours of dance a week and Brad's very busy baseball schedule with two different teams and his dedication to obtaining his black belt in Karate. These kids amaze me, and I am so very proud of them.

Now that school is out, you would think we would also be done with baseball and dance but no such luck. Beginning of summer in our house still means dance continues with Summer Intenstive Dance Camp at the end June for Ashley and a National dance competition in July. For Brad, we have finished games with his two baseball teams but he was picked to play for the Oviedo Babe Ruth 11U All Star team. Therefore, baseball continues through June and if the team wins district and state Brad could potentially be playing through July and August. And of course, Karate never ends...only 9 more months until he is a black belt.

The kids never complain about their busy lives, they thrive with adversity and love what they do. As long as the kids are happy, do well in school; we will continue to support their dreams.

Okay so I made you wait a couple years.  I promise I will try to get better at this.  Now to help  you catch up on what happened in 2018, 2019 and so far in 2020. Let's see...this might be a very short post at least for the years 2018 and 2019.   2018 In 2018, Brad graduated from the Univeristy of Alabama with a BS Degree in Economics and Philosphy in May. He is still dating his high school sweetheart, McKenzie, there is talk of marriage.  After graduation, Brad got a job with Reuters as part of their Graduate Leadership Program.  Then the division of Reuters that Brad worked for became Refinitiv. He lived in NYC for about six weeks for training and then lived in Chicago for about 9 months before they transferred him to Houston to work as a Customer Success Manager in Commodities and Energy. McKenzie also graduated with a BS in Pharmacy but continued with her graduate studies.  Ashley is a Junior in college and she is doing well academically and h...

It's been a while. Did you know...

that Ashley was in the hospital  after Thanksgiving and before Christmas?  She had a bleed. She has varices.  Just a little reminder that she is not healthy and has a life threatening liver disease. that we lost our beloved beautiful puppy, Sarge, on January 2.  It was sudden, shocking, and sad.  We think he had leukemia based on his symptoms.  Not sure if we will ever get another dog.  Sarge was one of a kind and a perfect fit for our laid back, drama free family. that Ashley made the Principal's Honor Roll her 1st Semester of high school while taking all honors courses.  She is beautiful and smart. that Ashley is still dancing for her high school dance team minus a solo this year. She loves being part of the team but really misses competing in her favorite style of dance, lyrical/contemporary. that after a couple years of not having a dance studio to call home.  We think we may have finally found just the place.  Maybe som...

Some Things

NO SURGERY.  Yes, you got it Brad does not need surgery on his elbow. The MRI results showed no tears, breaks, pulls....no injury at all.  We are so happy about this especially since this surgery would have cost us $6,000 out of pocket.  Brad needs rehab to build strength.  He is working on pitching exercises provided by a sports trainer.  Currently, Brad is not playing baseball although he been asked to play with several travel ball teams.  We are looking at the possibility of hiring a pitching coach.  I know Brad is happy that he now has a good chance to get on the varsity baseball team next spring since he has no injury. I have been sick off and on for the last few weeks which is the reason for the lack of updates.  We have plenty of reasons to update.  Like, Ashley quit dance.  Not really. But kind of.  Ashley finished her last year competing in dance a couple Sunday's ago.  As stated before, this year in dance ha...
