I know it's late but so far it has been a Happy New Year for us, I do hope the year has started off happy for you too. We enjoyed a quite New Year celebration at home watching football games and the Rose Parade. Did anyone see the Gift of Life float? I missed it while switching channels to watch football. I have my priorities you know.
I bet you are wondering if I have any New Year's Resolutions. Usually, I make two or three resolutions a year but I am always failing at keeping those resolutions. This year I decided not to make any new years resolutions instead I am setting daily goals. For example, today my goal is to finish my never-ending to do list and run another mile and half. Tomorrow, I will set a different goal or goals. Setting daily goals seems a lot easier to accomplish than setting a goal or many goals for the year.
I did ask the kids if they have any New Year Resolutions. Ashley's resolutions is to save enough money to buy a Ragamuffin kitten. She has her heart set on a white Muffin with blue eyes, she is picking out names daily. Right now, she has about $70 dollars saved, I don't have the heart to tell her that these kittens go for about $800 to $1000. Maybe I can convince her to rescue a kitten. Brad's resolution is to not procrastinate on school work. I love you son but you will still procrastinate, I will still get irritated at you when you do but just keep those grades at A's and B's and everything will be fine. Don't get me wrong folks, Brad is a great kid. He is just like any other middle schooler; he procrastinates on big school projects like the Science Fair, research papers, etc. It drives us nuts but hey I did it when I was a kid too so I cut him some slack every now and then.
Ashley did well over the Christmas break other than her normal typical bout with an intestinal virus she survived the two week break with no major illnesses or trips to the doctors. She does have an appointment at Shands scheduled for February 9. I am pretty sure at this appointment she will have an ultrasound, blood work and a possible a colonscopy and an upper endoscopy. I just hope and pray that we can keep her healthy and away from the doctors until then. She doesn't need to miss any more time from school; she has missed enough. Making up her school work, homework and tests that she missed after being out of school for two weeks after Thanksgiving was not fun; for her or for me.
This year has started of well for us and we are positive that it is going to end even better. The power of positive thinking is in control!
